More Electoral Reforms

I couldn't believe what I was reading this morning, when I read that politicians maybe entertaining the idea of allowing electoral commission staff to adjust peoples ballot papers. (See story here)

I feel ballot papers should never be adjusted or amended by anyone for whatever reason. There is no way for anyone else to know what the "voter's intention" was, other then the voter.

I'm glad to see the poll result agrees with me (at time of writing).

Electronic voting is an other issue I would like to raise. I think it's about time Queensland (and Australia for that matter) adopted electronic voting. There are many systems which we could adopt (Click here for some ideas). We need to investigate which system would hold true to our democrat values and take it up. I know we all enjoy watching election night, and then waiting weeks to find out the result. Though electronic voting we would lower the informal vote, and we would obtain a much clearer result much quicker.
